Thread: Ulterra/ hummingbird setup?

Can you follow the contour on the I pilot link remote itself without a hummingbird at all?

Reason I ask is I really want Lowrance touch. I'm basically gonna have to have two birds Ethernet from bow to stern to work on one transducer on TM or two transducers one at each end to swap ends with unit.

First, you have the terminology a little wrong ...... The remote is not I pilot Link ....with the remote, it is only Ipilot..........It is only Ipilot link if connected to a Humminbird unit.

The Lakemaster mapping card v2 and the Humminbird unit work in conjunction with the Ipilot Link in the trolling motor to be able to follow the contour.......It requires all 3 things to work.

That clears that up thanks! Was looking at I pilot link remote and its lot bigger. Thought the screen on remote might show map or something you could trace on it. Thanks.

I'm trying to figure out how to run one bird 859 on one transducer on TM and be able to switch ends for jigging or longlining.

Debating whether I'll be satisfied with bird when I want Lowrance touch. Mainly want ulterra for stow/deploy. I mainly just use cruise control on my power drive now set heading and go.

Thats not entirely true, no it does not LINK to anything but the ILink remote is a complete different aninmal from the Ipilot remote. Will store and maintain twice as much as far as waypoints, tracks and anchor loks, has a much bigger screen and much easier to see on a brite day. No matter the depth finder I wouldnt want the Terrova or the Ulterra with out it being a LINK, hooked to your Birds is just icing on the cake!!!!

I think there is what the call a micro remote that is supported by new versions of the ipilot link software.

You could have a 2nd transducer mounted on the bow and another power cord and cable collector.....Then you could just unplug the unit and move it. You would also be set if you decide later to buy a 2nd unit.
You could also use a switch for the transducer to switch it to the other location if you didn't care which end of the boat the GPS and depth reading are coming from.

It would be a little more complicated if you wanted to have an Ipilot link and connect in 2 separate locations, but could be done with an Ethernet switch.

The Ethernet switch is the answer I think to be able to link two locations "bow primary & stern" from one transducer and one bird.

Gps signal be great from bow of boat to stop on brush for jigging. The second location on stern of boat is just for a heads up on brush and shallow spots long lining. Easiest thing to do is buy two units Ethernet from bow to stern. Cheapest thing is Ethernet switch from TM transducer if I'm following you right?
