I want to know if the pic I saw was an all the time thing or one of those "pretty Internet pictures" that Tmike mentions. If Kosmo post 20 pics and they are all good then I will have to start my rethinking of the Onix. Right now I'd be terrified to own one due to what Diel is experiencing (that's the kind of luck I have but I don't have his resources).

I'm not one to be on the "bleading" edge myself....very interested in how the ONIX progresses.

I can tell you that when the unit works, the resolution and sonar hits are very good. The Onix just needs some serious updates to make the execution better. We'll see what happens when the first update comes out in April.

Diel11,the slow bootup isn't a problem for me anymore.as you no I have my transducer mounted on the trolling motor so while moving from one location to another was a concern for me(turning the unit off then waiting for it to boot back up when I turned it back on)On the 998 I would just push the power key, then turn sonar off then turn it back on when I reaches a new location.i just learned that on the onix,I. can touch the top right corner of the screen.a drop down menu with standby option is shown.when I push standby the onix immediately shuts off.when I touch the power key,it immediately turns back on.i believe now that I no this,I turn the unit on one time and just use standby until I ive done for the day.(wife just informed me,times up.off to do more hunny dos.)

Kosmo, yes on the standby. Works well when I've been testing HDS stuff and want the Humminbird off. Also, if it ever freezes up on you, hold the power button down for 14secs and it will do a shutdown like a PC would.

Diel11,thanks for the tip .diel11,I wanted to make that I wasn't wrong about the software v.being at 0.00 so I checked again and yes that is correct,I also but my ear down close to the control head to listen for the clicking sound you mentioned and I don't hear anything on this unit.i tryed to make my unit lock up today by going though all of the menu setting.twice ,I got the si tofreeze up I waited a couple of minutes and hit the back button and it started working.on my unit there some bugs but really not to bad,an update should fix them but your unit might have something else going on.im thinking that you should tell the humminbird engineers about the different results were getting.

Will do Kosmo. Just got off the water and all kinds of problems again. SI still freaks out no matter what. I made sure everything was off, so no big motor, no HDS units, no Sonar Hub, etc. I also disconnected the ethernet cable. Same problem. I did get the 5PXG switch but didn't use it. Will send the engineers the videos and let them know about your unit Kosmo.
