No change today. Something new happened so I made a video of it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXhHiu_zuy0

I tried both transducers with the same results. Had to reboot the unit 15 times as the SI kept falling off. Had the 2D do some seriously messed up stuff. So far the only one that keeps working no matter what is the DI. Even the chart had problems today.

On the good side of things, I received the new update for the I pilot Link and 360 and those installed properly. I now have the correct ethernet switch and that helped with the 360 some. I spent about 15 minutes with the 360 just setting up sensitivity, etc. and the pics were as good as the 1198. Will spend more time with it later.

Deil11,I wish that I had the same software version as you, to confirm if its the software or just a faulty unit. Am l correct, that this is your second unit?what was your first unit doing, other than the clicking noise coming from the control head?(I just got home so I didn't get to check my unit, but I'm fairly confident thats there's no clicking)I also want to take a picture to post the software version of my unit so there will be no doubt about that. Also, just looked at some pictures from a person with an onix 8 and there considerably worse than what your experiencing.

The front cover on the first unit started to come unglued and I was seeing the same type of lines on 2D as this one. But the SI on the first unit was fine. Software version on that one was 1.100.

If I turn the sonar off at the menu the pinging stops, just like it should. I'm leaning towards a bad unit but no telling yet.

Do you think Humminbird brought these out too soon?

Good question viv n........ but consider this,if my unit was born in January, and has a software version of 0.00 and deill11 has a unit that was born at a later date and has not one but at least two updates ,it kindof appears that things are regressing. (So in theory, the more time given the worse things become)

Let me also say this.whatevers going on,and I sure don't no.but if I were over the humminbird qc department or for that matter, even the top guy at humminbird needs to personally get involved and make sure that the next unit deill11 gets is in the best possible working condition.and if they can't give him a unit that works properly then maybe they should hault production until they get things lined out.

I've gone through my boat carefully to make sure it's not something related to the install ( I always default to me being the problem first) but so far everything is fine. The Lowrance unit cables run through the same exact place and there are no problems there.

Diel11,could you turn the pinging off to just the di to see if the control head stops clicking?I no that this won't solve your issue's with your unit, but I'm curious about the clicking noise in the control head.might even just turn the ping off to si or 2d to see what changes ,if any accur

Did this yesterday and if I turn off the sonar then it goes away. I noticed that if I turn off DI, it turns off all the others also. I couldn't just turn off DI or 2D. When that happens the noise goes away. If I just disconnect the ducer it keeps pinging at the unit.
