Default Problems running 2 FF at the same time, need help

I have a 798 in the dash and a 1198 next to the console. I have dual ducers for the 1198 and have the 798 ducer within 8 inches of one of the 1198 ducers. The 1198 is connected to the battery and the 798 is through the master fuse panel. Voltage is not a problem. All the ducer wires are run from the back togather. Problem, I get some lines on both units as long as they both are powered on. Turn one off, the lines go away. Turn the motor off and no change.
    Any ideas?

Anytime you run two units that operate on the same frequency, you will get interference. It will normally start to be a problem when the water depth gets as deep as the separation between the transducers. If you can run one of the units on a different frequency that should help.

I would eliminate the 798 transducer as the 798 and 1198 will work off the same transducer.

I don't think it's possible to turn off the 200kHz in HB units as the depth is derived from the 200kHz beam...
(If I remember correctly.. The unit can be set to "display" 83kHz only, but it still does not shut off the 200kHz in order to continue reading depth)

It is possible to turn off the sonar completely in newer versions of software and use the unit as a GPS chart plotter without any sonar...(if the unit is a combo unit)..pressing the power button 1 time should bring up a menu that contains "Sonar Off"...which would allow 1 unit to use all functions and the second unit to allow GPS chartplotting only...

Thanks guys, I'm going to order an Ethernet cable from HB and I think that will let both units use the 1198 ducer. Right?

The smaller unit has to be a 798ci HD SI to be Ethernet compatable...("HD" in the 700 model name)...

Thanks for your help. I have a 798CI SI COMBO and a 788CI COMBO, neither have the Ethernet capabilities. Wish I had thought about this when I bought them. I need a unit the same physical size to fit the hole in my dash that is Ethernet ready and at this point I think all I want it for is to share waypoints, have maps, speed, temp, depth and be a color unit. I won't need side scan or down image since I have the 1198 at the console as well. I can't see a use of the side scan on the TM, can you? Best bet is to sell/trade the 798 for one that I can connect. Any suggestions? Thanks again...

I have my SI surf board TX on the troll motor. That is where I spend most of my time.
