if fish symbols is turned on the sonar should show as fish symbols

So if you turn fish symbols on, then it will show them on side and down scan too? I thought it was just for the sonar.
I just bought an HDS-8 and am just curious. I see the little white specks. I may have to try it just to see what happens next time I get out.

the way i understand it the fish symbols will only show in sonar mode and with the fish symbols option selected when in lss-1 mode sidescan and downscan will show the fish as white or as actual fish described by tech support

Okay, that's what I thought. I thought from one of your posts you were looking for fish symbols on down/side scan.
I don't use fish symbols but if you like them, I agree the unit should show them. I don't watch that unit all that much but sometimes I switch the graph to fish symbols depend on who's in the back of the boat. I haven't tried switching this one yet.

Looks like we have 3 pages on the H/B unit, and 5 pages on the Lowrance unit. Hopefully crappiegirl gets her problem straightened out.

UPDATE: the new new structure scan was delivered as promised by ups around 5 pm today. what a time for rain , although it is much needed. been raining since last night late, (maybe perk up the fish) cooled off a little to. in the meantime , tomorrow will have to be structure scan day, even thought i am anxious to get it going.
my co pilot (husband) will be more than anxious to get it over!!!! hes been soooo good---------maybe ill make him his favorite pie!

I usta Kite fly (boat toe) in Lake Griffin. Long straight lake and always winds at 200ft. This was in the late 60-70's. Also before my body had an earthquake and my chest shifted to my belly. Lots of wet wedges on that lake from crash landing the kite.
