It really does not matter, old style you can still use any transducer the factory ships with your unit, just add a small spacer the same width of the nose on the terrova us2, no problem, Now as far as the noise, I had three depth finders that I could not use on the terrova us2 all of the from the same company, I searched and found a brand that worked and works well, Lowrance had no problem working on the us2 with or with out the internal transducer. I hooked up the transducer the Lowrance came with and I think it worked as well or maby a bit better than the us2 did,, the us2 was just less wires in the way. so If the new ones are like the old ones go ahead and get one you will be happy verry happy

This is interesting as justinp61 never did get his Lowrance working satisfactory with the US2...

Must be more to the interference issue than just the US2 itself...?

    Thanks

Rickie, I never did get my Humminbird 747C to work correctly, the HDS 5 worked perfect.

And from what I can tell, you can't get a Terrova with I-Pilot that doesn't have US. At least I didn't see one anywhere I looked.

I just bought (in February) a Terrova us2 from cabelas. I guess it is the "new one" (?). The us2 TD is like the picture of the foot control in rnvinc's report. There is plenty of room to mount another TD.

Thanks Shadboy, I got the Cabelas catalog today and was reading in there that is indeed inside the unit.

    Thanks for the post

No, the hump is there. That is the Universal Sonar. The hump is not on the models with out US2. I have a Terrova 101 with IP and a Terrova 80/us2/IP and they are the bomb!
:D Local guy, Great deals! www.thecrappiehotspot.com Thumbs Up

If it doesn't have the hump, it doesn't have the transducer.

Not true. I have the terrova with us2. You would not know it was there if you did not look at the bottom of the motor. It is about 2" in diameter. I sticks up into the motor a 1/2 in. I have it hooked to my 788 and it works great. I have the HB transducer on the back of the boat. I flip a switch and it Will read from the front. Flip the switch again it it will read from the back. I will post a pick of the us2 when I get home.
