i have came up with a crappie condo out of pallets that works pretty well...you have to take every other board off of the pallet in order for the fish to swim thru them tho...this is how is should look
the box in the center is a concrete block to keep the condo in place...there a cheap to make and last a very long time...i use copper wire to tie everything togather and sink them right on the bottom

We make some of those. We dont remove any boards though. Just tie 2-3 blocks and put a gallon jusg on top to get it floating a lil off the bottom.
Crappiekillerjigs is 1 block enough to sink 3 pallets?![]()

i dont really use blocks since i can buy a 80lb bag of concrete for the price of two blocks...i pour half of a 5gallon bucket of crete and put a eyelet bolt in the center and use it...thats 40lbs...more then nuff weight to hold them in place

Take 6 pallets and make a cube. Put an 80 lb bag of concrete inside and push it over. The concrete will set upo on its own. They will last several years and if not in a hard current won't move. During the spawn they are tough to beat.
i will have to try that...

Gives me an ideal, a lot of the spring time action is very shallow 3' and less, I may take some pallets and cut them in halve making the triangle so the top is below the surface. Taking off the lowest plank will proably be good. May remove a couple planks off the lower pallet so fish can get at the bottom, maybe even dump a little sand and pea gravel where I remove the planks. This weather is so lousy I think I will build a half dozen this weekend.
