I like hot water cornbread with fish too.

2C cornmeal
2C boiling water
2t baking powder
salt and pepper to taste

mix dry ingredients and stir in boiling water. Mix thoroughly. Let stand to cool. Form patties or rolls from dough and deep fat fry.
