If you're fishing water that is connected to the Miss. river, they can be dangerous. This is the flying carp, Asian big mouth carp, imported here and now rampant in waters connected to the Miss. river. They react to outboard motor noise and jump several feet into the air and sometimes land in your boat as this one did. I got my arm up and fended him from hitting me, this one was in Lake Chicot and there were lots of them jumping.

Jerry that could be hazardous to one's health, especially if you are by
yourself.
Gosh, all weekend i only caught 4 and here you got them jumping into your boat. There's no reason to brag you know.
Yeah we cant even fish the oxbows over here in the NE part of the state Island 40, Dacus and Brandywine are all covered up with them. you better be wearing hockey gear if your going to take a stroll down any of these.

I've experienced those on chicot before. never had them jump in the boat, but they've scared the crap out of me before.
I ran into a bunch of them down on the White river last year. Had one dang near take my head off. They can be dangerous.
Midway is full of them.
