About any wood works good , Hardwood or Cedar lasts a long time. I get what's free and Cedar cuts easy as well as lasts. Scraps from mills is what I use and cut into stake size on a table saw.

When I head that way with the family in a few weeks, I'll send the request to eat, not cook. Hoping for good weather and fishing the weekend after Easter. That's our tentative plan.I get lots of invites but most are for me to cook fish !
