I really did not want to bust anyone's bubble but I agree with the concept of using minnows. Many will say they catch bigger Crappie on minnows than they do on jigs. I know on minnows I have caught some Hoss's.
I need to become a jig crappie man before I can compare the two but I have used minnows on jigs with success.----
Minnows are very hard to keep alive in the heat and ice will help until they hit the water and they are dead in a little bit, so from this standpoint, I want to be a master of both styles or all styles that catch Crappie.
I use to be a Catfish man only---Crappie fishing is a sport I had to be taught by others and reading articles to learn about their habits and where and how they migrate and spawn.---Than I had to spend a lot of time exploring the waterways to find those just right spots.
Now I am in the process of bringing them to me at my spots-----I hope----The Game Wardens I have spoken with are very helpful and they do encourage assisting the spawn through habitat as well as the Corps of Engrineers.
It is amazing what you can learn when great fisherman post their idea's on this forum. Crappie.Com and the guys on here have made a great bit of difference over the years.
MY GOAL IS TO BECOME A CRAPPIE MASTER, since in my old age, I now have the time to fish instead of working.
