Been using jigs for over 35 years, bought minners once and the bucket full turned over backing the boat down the ramp, minners every where....... would rather go home lightly skunked than use them things....... like what someone up above said, ozark rod and southern pro tubes......... been using them southern pro 's from day one......... and still they are only about 5 cents each........ minners here cost $1.75 a dozen........and them loud battery operated minner mizer drive me nuts......... which takes only about 5 minutes........

I got some extra strength patches for ya CP. I haven't bought minners in over a year and half now and until they slack off on them jigs i cant see fooling with minners. A time and place for them but since becoming proficient with jigs just haven't found a need for em. You know CP we slammed em in my boat with jigs last year. Every person that has fished with me has caught plenty of fish on jigs and even when fished side by side some guys have wished they didn't have minners to use up. Just saying in the river and smaller lakes I haven't seen a need for em. I am waiting on meathead to show me them ssippi crappie that like minners.

If you dont believe me and Jerry, ask them boys from TN about minners, the Bunting's, Westerbergs, Midsouth man and Conway. You jig only guys are only hurting yourself. It's sad... but true. With all the money you guys spend on this jig and that jig what's 5-6 dollars for a half pound of number sixes going to hurt you. A jig tipped with a minner is the most deadly fishing bait in crappie fishing. Word Up!!!

I feel I do alright and don't spend much either. In last 1/2 dozen trips I've lost 1 Meatgetter hand tied , 2 unpainted jigheads, and maybe 4 plastic tubes. That's less than two bucks worth of tackle for 6 days of fishing. Minnows @ 6 bucks x 6 trips would be 36 bucks plus lost tackle. I feel as long as I can catch fish on something like a Meatgetter jig or umbrella tube without minnows. Then why go to the trouble and expense?

I have caught over 6100 fish since february on jigs, no minners, word up ;-). I will stick with what works here. Like i said when meathead invites me to fish ms when he is catching em on minners i will fish with him or beside him with jigs and see what happens. But for around here in the barrels and river the jigs work well without a minner.

I mostly use jigs too, but im not afraid to throw a minner on if i need to. I see most of you jig- exclusive guys posting about slow bites from time to time. Thats when adding a minner can make the difference.

I have heard it said, breaking a minner addiction is the hardest thing in the world. Some people are just to weak to quit.
