Joe - I'm there with you...I prefer to be out in the water rather than trapped on the bank. I think it's easier to spook fish on the bank than it is on the water. And I'd rather be a little further from the snakes.
Midsouth - Thanks much for the heads up. I've been checking out those lakes quite a bit on Google, but have as yet to get out to any to scout/try them. Trying to locate access roads on Google maps on a dial up connection hasn't exactly been fun. Maybe I just need to go try and locate some county maps and just do it the old fashioned way.
Mooney - I've tried a number of spots in Dagmar, problem is every time I go there are dozens of people along the road side fishing everywhere there's a semi clear spot between the trees along the road. My concern there is overfishing and trying a spot someone's cleaned out the previous day. If I had a boat and could get on the opposite bank things might be different lol. I will keep trying new spots though.
Duckhunter - I've been contemplating a small boat. Unfortunately, most of the papers around here are once a week and beyond that I'm unsure where to look. Perhaps you are right and I should check on here. You're definitely right about the snakes. Haven't seen any cottonmouths yet, but I've had my fill of copperheads the last 2 weeks. Tons of em out, and I'd just as soon be in a boat than having them attacking my bobbers every time I throw a bait out lol. Ended up killing one the other day that caught itself a fish and got stuck on the fish's pectoral barbs and couldn't get free or spit the fish.
Thanks for the suggestions guys, I appreciate it and if anyone has any other thoughts I'd be indebted.
