Slab bandits are from crazyanglertackle.com I recommend ballhead 1/16 #4 sicklehead jigs with NO collar. He sells them too at a reasonable price of $7.50 a hundred and the slab bandits are $2.50 for a pkg of 20. I have started putting a drop of crazy glue on the hook shaft then slide the bait on. That way you don't have to reset the bait everytime you jerk. The sickle head gives you a little wider gap and they are really hard to straighten out. Sometimes I powder paint the heads but I don't think it helps any. Also, I think you get more hookups if you take some pliers and put a 10 to 15 % twist in the hook point. I am sure there are better techniques but this works for me. My favorite colors on Dardanelle are:
    It ain't nuttin but luck.

I really appreciate your sharing your methods with us. As you describe your technique I was thinking been there done that. I have been verticle jigging, kalin triple threat jigs (Tennesse bleeding shad), 6lb line, with a split shot about 18" above jig. Have been doing pretty good at 10' in 17', 18', of water, but have to be right on the spot. You find that spot, strike, 3' away, nothing.
