No problem I did fairly well on Greer's this spring. I fished all last year with the Wally Marshall rods that were stolen in the spring and did not break one. I have broken 3 BnM's already this year. 1 was my fault the other 2 I don't think should have broken. You remember how I would get a crank unhung last year with the Wally Marshall's, you can't do that with the BnM.![]()

Some day...SOME day I will be able to get the trollin' bandits to pay off for me.
Today I was on the lake at 0500. I planted four more condos and after that, I let down the bandits and trolled...and trolled and trolled. One rod at 60 feet, the other at 80.
I was marking fish at 12-18' feet as I plowed through the numerous baitballs. I caught one 2 lb catfish and a stinkin' white bass. For the last two and a half hours, I dipped minnows over the brush piles and beside the timber and did the thang with the RR's, poppin' and droppin' around the timber. Water temps today ranged from 89 to 93. Maybe I need to go down lake where the waters are generally deeper (and cooler). I jus' dunno.
I'm about ready to try the Bandits out on Lake Hamilton in and around the Mazarns and see what happens. BTW, what kind of water are you trollin' right now. Today I varied from 12' to 65' of water "S" turnin down the channels and over the breaks. No dice. I'm tellin' ya...Ouachita takes no prisoners this time of year.
Tomorow I'm stayin' in bed.

Nice fishes.
Question 1. How do you retrieve a bandit (or any lures) when they get snagged deep.
Question 2. Are you guys fishing near choctaw in those pics?
Good job.

Most of the time if you go back the way you came when you get on the backside of your hang up it will come free.....if not use a lure knocker or retriever. Mine is a small lead weight with 3 small chains on it and some heavy cord. It will attach and slide down your line to your bait then jiggle it and try to get the chains to catch the hooks then yank it free with with the cord. I only had to do that once yesterday and when the bandit came up it had another bandit on it I lost several months ago. 2nd. time I've done that. :D....yes we were at Choctaw.
Man! What are the odds of that happening twice? Thanks for the reply. I laughed at my brother a few weeks ago when he bragged about carrying a spark plug to get snagged lures because those store bought ones were a "gimmick". Not ten minutes later he lost his lure AND his spark plug.

Nice fish I plan on getting over there and doing some trolling this week, early in the morning before the boat traffic gets bad. Hoping they start bitting like they did last year and cranksbaits.
I use a home-made retriever. I take a circle key ring and thread several 4 or 5 inch lengths of small chain onto the key ring. You can get the chain at WM for next to nothin'. Then attach a good nylon cord to the key ring and you're ready for action.
I only had it fail once. I was fishin' with my loud-mouth sister and (of course) got hung. I bragged about my lure retriever and sent it down the main line. Sure -nuff, it grabbed the hooks and I gave it a good tug. 'POP' I brought up the LINE.
Sis looked at me and they BUSTED out laughing and said, "Well, I guess this means we need a lure retriever retriever." (such a smartazz)
The moral of the story is to remember to retie the cord every year or so. :D
