The biggest adjustment for you will be fishing much shallower. You can typically find fish year round in 10 to 15 feet of water or less. No more jigging cliff edges in 60 and 80 feet of water.
I hear Ya. you can step off the bank and be in trouble there. I went to Weiss lake and there letting the water out ( I didn't know at the time) I'm freaky out at the boat ramps docks being 6 ft taller then my boat. I just stay in the cove that day.
