Welcome to the site. Used to fish those old haunts when I was stationed at Ft. Leavenworth and had a buddy close to Lake of the Ozarks. Great wealth of knowledge and good folks on the site, again welcome.

Another option even if you do not have a Navionics Card (Lake Master still has not made maps available for any of the Coosa river lakes yet, except Mitchell and Lay) You can go to the Navionics website and they have all of their maps available online for anyone to use free. If you use their online maps be sure to toggle the little icon on the bottom left hand side of the maps which will turn on recent sonar soundings and provide incredible current lake detail.
NO i don't have mapping software, Thinking of getting some. Didn't need it on LOZ, I knew where to go and yes I did the same thing there is I stay right out of the bends of the river. Front of the docks would be 12 ft and backs could be 60ft No joke. I get on the web site for sure. Just gettting a good map of the lake would be real help full.
    Thanks for this info.

I hear Ya. you can step off the bank and be in trouble there. I went to Weiss lake and there letting the water out ( I didn't know at the time) I'm freaky out at the boat ramps docks being 6 ft taller then my boat. I just stay in the cove that day.

I used to help a lot of folks on LOZ. It was playing it forward for me. When I first moved to LOZ I met a guy who told me little about C.com been active ever since.

Just depends on the time of the year as to what style of fishing works best. spider rigging is working right now and soon long lining will be. work the channels well.
I Get after them with what ever it takes. I shoot, troll cranks, Stirght line, slip corks and will be Spider Rigging soon.

Charlie I run Humminbird electronics so I use The Navionics + card which is really, really good for most of the Coosa river lakes. With a yearly subscription and the Navionics + card you can download unlimited updates right to your card for the lakes you fish. The cool part is that all the other users who fish those same lakes constantly upload their sonar recordings and then Navionics incorporates those into the latest updates. It is amazing how detailed the maps are now. Neely Henry is in HD with 1ft contour lines and most all of the old road beds, bridges, submerged lake beds etc are marked. I really like the Lakemaster cards better but they have yet to survey all the Coosa river lakes (which is hard to comprehend since they are a Alabama company, but don't get me started on that). I use the Lakemaster card when I fish the Tennessee River lakes.

Charley41, wished I could help. I'm a skinny water guy fishing from a kayak. I chase the Crappie that no one else can't get to with the big boats. If you ever want to come up to Huntsville and give it a try give me a yell.

Thanks for the warm welcome. To tell you the truth I didn't think there was that many on this Bama Board. Of coarse when I was looking it was August and OMG killer heat to this fat boy from Missouri.
Any way I fish out of a Blue and white 18ft Stratos. Most of the time I'll have my 16 year granddaughter fishing the back seat. ( She loves to shoot them docks). SHe just got where she can pull the trailer up out of the water. Next I got to teach her to back the trailer in. Then we'll go for the learners Permit LOL. She rolls up in a sleeping blanket and lays on the floor when its cold. She just love's it.

Thanks for all the info. as soon as I get a few keepers i'll post the report. maybe Friday.
