The Mega whether SI or DI blows the G1 units out of the water, hands DOWN.

Considering selling one or more of my G1 H12 actually - for more MEGA goodness!

I'm curious how you settled on the chirp frequency ranges you use. Do you change it much, or is that just the ranges you like?

I have been playing with sonar settings now and then as well. But once you have it dialed in, run with it and fish. I like the high chirp settings moreso as well. How about you, sfw1960?

Actually, you could widen your chirp range on mega if you wanted to. It will do 1.125 - 1.300 if you wanted it too. That's what I use... not saying it is better though. I just maxed it out soon after getting the unit and I have not played with it since.

The reason I had it on that setting for that shot is I also run a Lowrance Hook 5 on the front just under the Mega 9 and run both transducers off the front of the jon boat attached to Po Dunks Da Ducer and I have the 5 set to show lake map and sonar in split screen. Had to set the 9’s sonar to the setting shown otherwise it would have shown some interference from the 5 transducer. Most of the time I just run the Mega 9 set to SI DI split screen or single screen HD. My plan is to get a larger screen Mega and do away with the 5. Love the Megas!

I change it - I usually run with the 200 kHz off my 859DI so no cross talk in deeper water - and the DI is often 811-844 kHz because the H12 SI up front is running 800 kHz.

I use lower freq. Mega DI for more coverage and higher freq. on SI for best details and they are usually odd multiples so the Mega doesn't cross talk any when running Mega SI & DI.

Thanks for explaining that. Might have to tinker with mine some. I have mega on the bow and console.

    Yep @ cevans...

The higher the better, unless I need more depth penetration or broader beam.

I wish they went UP to 1.5MHz....LOL

give the manufacturers time and they will. They aren’t dumb and know how to milk the system for all the bucks they can get making us buy the latest and greatest all the time. I think they call it “the American way!” Or call it we took the entire “Hook, line and sinker!”

I fished a few days last week and noticed my style of fishing Im really not sure if I will benefit much using a mega unit. I used my SI and map screen some , but I was usually looking for cover then switched to 2d b4 I decided to fish. My question is are the helix gen 1 unit chirp sonar. I got a chance to look at a helix 10 non mega. And a helix 12 mega , but couldnt tell if the 10 was chirp or not. Do helix 10s come gen 2 non mega. Im getting confused
If You Aint Fishing, You Aint Living!!!!!
