The last time I had a bite going, I decided to change color every cast for a while. I eventually got tired of changing color. They would hit anything I threw. Contrast that with Saturday when i threw every color I had and got zero bites

that is interesting....I have always wondered do fish really prefer a certain color...ie, do you start catching fish because you changed color....or....do you just get to a spot that is holding fish....or... do the fish just start biting or is it the presentation....I believe if you are in a spot where the fish are and they are biting , then they will bite any color (including shiners)....no scientific data to back that up, JMO......JB Salter says "they are biting all the time, it's the contrast of colors on the jig, not the color".....

Saute, yes I tie those myself. It's fun.
Lake Runner, I bought those off of ebay a few years ago. I have no idea where to buy more. They are actually fly boxes.
Linda is a color changer and I stick with what I have on my line. Sometime i use the same bait for 3 or 4 trips. Now I do have a few different poles with different baits that I use each trip. I can only remember one trip where they weren't hitting anything so I put on a deep purple hand tied jig and that was the only one they would hit.

I have been wanting to start making my own jigs. I looked at the prices of the tools and figured I could fill a tackle box with jigs for what the cost of a rotating vise, a few bobbins and materials to make jigs. I do plan to start soon. I have done research and watched some youtube videos and know I could make some nice jigs. I just don't have the time these days.
