Default Questions about Jig color selection.

I fish dirty water 90% of the time. I do well with dark colors. The last time I cleaned fish they were full of grass shrimp. I am wondering if I would do better using silver or white to match the color of what they are already eating. I know when trout fishing up north we always matched the hatch for best results.

Makes sense to me Saute!, I always try to match the hatch if I can. I bought a jig from a guy today that he calls a "minner" jig and he fishes Calcasieu a lot, he said I would be back for more, says that is his best color. It is a grey/black sparkly colored jig. Gonna give it a try at Toledo and see if it will produce there too.

For me when I'm fishing dark water. Pinks, silvers, and chartreuse

Hey I saw the PM, but it wouldn't let me reply for some reason. That is a great store, Slab Hunter's (Randy) cousins own that store and are super nice every time I go in there.

I had the pleasure of listening to Mr. JD in his shop many days. One of his standbys was grey, even in dirty water. I don't go anywhere without a grey on one rod. I like to use something with a lot of contrast as my plan B. Most of the time I reach for red and chartreuse. It's amazing how well those grass shrimp work! Before the hurricanes we had crappie in our pond at our camp and I could jig around my tops off the dock and sometimes catch and sometimes not. There was NEVER a time that I could put a grass shrimp on a hook and not get a bite!

Saute, here are some of the jigs (top 2 and lower right) I find work good when the slabs are hanging around grass beds feeding on shrimp. All have some sparkle bodies of different colors and a contrasting tail except for the pink on pink.
