    you can spray wd40 on those guides to keep ice off. Nice catch gonna freeze fingers cleanin em outside.

    i would change to 8lb vicious, toughest line ive used, 8 lb mr crappie would be better, i always use at least 8lb except in very clear water, cold day for sure!!!! way to tough it out guys!!!

    Loop knot, the one that CrappiePro showed me. He probably is setting the hook to hard. I'll tell him to start using stronger line and quit trying to rip their lips off.

    could be the extra foot of small eyes with ice causing it too nevertheless way to brave the elements good job men congrats

    Check the eyes for cracks or chips that could cut the line. I use 8 lb Berkley Vanish Flourocarbon. I also use 11' Ozarks . Ever saw a 2lber slammed dunked into the boat ?

    You know Matt I was using six lb test and broke off at the knot more often also with Mr Crappie and I was using a 10 foot Ozark and it was not that cold. With that said I have used the same line, knot and so on for years with no problems. So I can only surmise that it is a problem in the spool of line. Try getting rid of that spool and jumping up to 8lb test Mr crappie. I like vicious 8 lb also and would not be beyond trying Nimbles Berkley Vanish.
