nice catch guys, change brands of line and move on.
i would change to 8lb vicious, toughest line ive used, 8 lb mr crappie would be better, i always use at least 8lb except in very clear water, cold day for sure!!!! way to tough it out guys!!!
could be the extra foot of small eyes with ice causing it too nevertheless way to brave the elements good job men congrats
Check the eyes for cracks or chips that could cut the line. I use 8 lb Berkley Vanish Flourocarbon. I also use 11' Ozarks . Ever saw a 2lber slammed dunked into the boat ? :Rofl
No net needed for these either! Attachment 179206

Good job guys.
You know Matt I was using six lb test and broke off at the knot more often also with Mr Crappie and I was using a 10 foot Ozark and it was not that cold. With that said I have used the same line, knot and so on for years with no problems. So I can only surmise that it is a problem in the spool of line. Try getting rid of that spool and jumping up to 8lb test Mr crappie. I like vicious 8 lb also and would not be beyond trying Nimbles Berkley Vanish.
P-LINE will solve your problem with line breaking! !!!
Good catch gents
