Not bad at all. The cold is here for sure just wish the wind would quit.

Matt and I roughed out pretty tough conditions this morning. It was a really slow bite. After battling the wind and the cold, we were about to throw in the towel. Then the sun came out and the fish started biting for us. We ended up with 3 good ones and broke several off. We also kept another 12 keepers and threw back at least that many. Matt must have broke off 10 times when setting the hook. It was always at the knot. We were both using the same kind of line and knot. The only difference was that I use 10" Ozarks and he uses 11" Ozarks. The line was new Mr. Crappie 6 pound line. I only broke off once. We also noticed that ice on the guides appeared to be abrading the line. But it always broke at the knot. Think it was the extra backbone in the 11 footer that made him break off so much?

Nice catch, I froze on the water for three stripes
Good job guys.
Nice job! You guys are crazy. It snowed last night at Little Rock! But good catch.
With 6 lb line it could be that he was just setting the hook a little harder and breaking it. I have used 6 lb line very few times. I will break off a lot with it.
You guys had a good mess of fish especially for the conditions. That's the way to hang in there.
nice catch guys!!
Nice catch guys, y'all have learned well. Blacks, I fished there 4 days in a row and didn't catch a black one. Good job, nice to sample the fruits of your labor as many of us have been. Thanks![]()
I normally use 6lb, and have used the mr. crappie hi vis with no problems. But this is on 7ft spinning rig, what pound test do you guys normally use?
Which knot is he using? I love the Polamar knot. But, if the line crosses itself in the hook eye it will fail pretty often.
