Man those are all some beattiful crappie. I know nothing of catching em this time of year, but would love to learn. Only problem is there is so much competition of my time off with the deer and duck. Thanx for the post!

Good job, Matt and Matt. Those are some nice specks. Was Matt cinching the line down on the eye of the jig? I use a loop knot and 6 lb. test Lo-Vis Green Stren line and the only time I remember breaking off at the knot is when poking the jig off a hang-up. Might try the loop knot. Thanks for the post and the pic.

Duh! I just read page 2 of this thread which I guess I skipped the first time through. I use the same knot CP uses and haven't had a problem. I did buy a 3,000 foot spool of 6 lb. Lo-Vis Green Stren a year or two ago that was bad. It kept breaking on me, even not near the knot, so I threw it away and bought a couple of 1,000 yard spools. I think it may be bad line as you should not be breaking off on the hook set that often, especially when you were not breaking off.

i've found that mr crappie line is a good summer/ fall line but gets brittle in cold . i've gone to yozuri hybrid for my wintertime trips. it stays limp and has good knot strength

Why use such light line to begin with? I never use less than about 12. Fish don't seem to mind.

I would comment about this, but I've broke off way too many myself this year. I may be going to #18 nylon.

Will make a big difference for jig fishermen in winter fishing deep.
