not a bad time fishing! i think we are starting to figure out this little pond?


on another note... fished lake smith saturday with not fish caught! and fished west neck creek today with only two small bass caught. water level was down about 1 and 1/2 feet at west neck and both days were very cold and windy!

Good looking fish- seems that persistence is paying off.

When you go to all the trouble to haul the boat to a lake and then struggle to catch a fish, it makes the little pond across the street a jewel, doesn't it? As good to eat as Crappie are, I would take a water sample and have it tested to see if it is safe to eat the fish. Unless there are some bad chemicals in there the fish may be perfectly fine to eat. They sure seem healthy and are reproducing so it may be a lot cleaner than you would think.

They look healthy, but a 16" fish should weigh more than 1.5 lbs. There's probably a shortage of food in such a small pond with a good-size fish population. Regardless of any shortcomings, a honey hole across the street is SWEET!!

my fiance's brother is in college majoring in something to do with natural resources and he has ben doing water pollution tests lately for a class... im gonna have him test the water in this pond and maybe start keeping some 10-11inch crappie for dinner!

i may have jumped the gun on saying that crappie was 16inches.... i thought my tackle box was 16inches across and i measured it last night just to make sure and its not.... its only 15inches across! sorry about that!


on another note... it was warm today for about 2 hours!!! i got to go fishing for one of those hours and we caught a bunch in that hour! while waiting for my buddy to arrive i thought i would break out my bass pole and see what happens? after the third cast i pulled in this fat fellow!!!





my buddy came up right as the bass hit my texas rigged plastic worm... i quietly said im getting a bite and set the hook! haha...

the rest of the short trip was filled with 10 of these guys!


2 of them weighed 1.47 and 1.49! after about a half hour on the water the wind picked up and the temperature dropped bad! so we called it a day at 3:00 ...




ALSO..... i have been carrying a heavy duty 12ft aluminum v-hull jon boat with trolling motor and batter and all fishing gear across the street and into the pond to fish! even with my boat dolly i custom built it is still a workout to do with two people! let alone by yourself... needless to say i have been looking for something better to fish small ponds out of. (plus Amanda says i cant have two boats and that i need to sell one!? hahah) so a buddy of mine gave this to me today for FREE!!!! it needs a few things but it is a 12ft sevylor inflatable boat that you can hook a trolling motor or small outboard to. it is plenty big enough to fish with two people and light enough to carry by myself!

But, you haveone almost in your back yard!

For your new boat, get a sheet of expanded PVC for the floor. It should run about $40 for a 4x8 sheet and weigh about 3-4 pounds. It will add a lot of stability to the inflatable. I'd also consider a air pump of some sort. It would really suck to get in the middle and have her lose a seam.

Totally sweet fishing hole ya got. Reminds me of the neighbor hood I grew up in deep creek.

thats a great idea about the expanded pvc for the floor!!!! where is a good place to get some? that would help keep the weight down drastically! thank you
