What lake/s are you fishing Gnab2? If you list your lakes I may have some intel on some of the best colors for that lake at this time of year. One thing I have noticed about Texas lakes is the crappie are all interested pretty mush on the same color depending on what part of the lake or time of day it is. One lakes colors may not work in the next and so on. Some lakes need darker colors where the water is more stained and some require other factors. It can get downright mind boggling sometimes and some people over think it. Experience or asking questions is the best information you can get. Talk to people launching their boats at the ramp. Talk to others on the lake by going the slowest you can somewhere near them without disturbing them and yell out your questions. MANY anglers are ready to assist you while on the water. Just remember to thank them. That is the best thing you can do to keep getting info. I love to help others when they ask. Not all anglers are mean and hateful but some can be so just take it slooowww and act like a newbie and you'll get the good treatment I'm sure. LOL
As for anglers assisting off the water well you are in the best place to get the best advise! Just ask. Tight lines!
