    Default Colors?

What is your favorite color to you on whites and crappie? I have use chartreuse and black and whites. I hear that pink and clear with silver flecks are good. I am new to the Texas fishing. I normally fish SE Mo.

I have several different colors and have them ready. Does the ones that look like shiner minnows work in Texas? They are hit and miss in SE Mo.

What lake/s are you fishing Gnab2? If you list your lakes I may have some intel on some of the best colors for that lake at this time of year. One thing I have noticed about Texas lakes is the crappie are all interested pretty mush on the same color depending on what part of the lake or time of day it is. One lakes colors may not work in the next and so on. Some lakes need darker colors where the water is more stained and some require other factors. It can get downright mind boggling sometimes and some people over think it. Experience or asking questions is the best information you can get. Talk to people launching their boats at the ramp. Talk to others on the lake by going the slowest you can somewhere near them without disturbing them and yell out your questions. MANY anglers are ready to assist you while on the water. Just remember to thank them. That is the best thing you can do to keep getting info. I love to help others when they ask. Not all anglers are mean and hateful but some can be so just take it slooowww and act like a newbie and you'll get the good treatment I'm sure. LOL
As for anglers assisting off the water well you are in the best place to get the best advise! Just ask. Tight lines!

I fell for the the dark/stained water = dark bait for way too many years....
At times white/chart is the absolute best color for dirty water....
The best advise one can truly believe is experiment with color combos while putting them in productive waters...
Theirs NO set color for any particular scenario when chasing crappie.....
Have several colors and work them all until you find success....
You'll launch with the skunk already in the boat if you set your mind to what's going to work before wetting your jigs....
FISH ON.....and BAAAM when you set tha hook.....

I'll pm you with what I have heard was working on any of the lakes you mentioned.
Darks work well for some and some can't stand them as you can see.
Again, your best bet is to talk to friendly anglers that are willing to share their experience with you based on their set skills and knowledge.
And NEVER forget, minnows are on every pro boat in a tournament so don't let anyone tell you that you can't use them to locate the crappie and then work your jigs. Too many "jig only" anglers like to bash other anglers that use them. Don't listen to them. Catch more than them and they shut up.
    Tight lines buddy.

    LOL...
Sure use whatever works but be sure to keep an open mind on colors and all the other variables that go along with catchn these fish.
I fish for crappie year round and do very well.
Some may only fish for them during "the season" as so many become experts during that time when it is easy.

Some times color means nothing just get the jig down there in their face and catch them left and right...

An open mind will put the right color on your line and down some slab crappie throats....

You won't ever see me use a minna since they are not required to catch SLAB CRAPPIE but I don't condone anyone using them, I do encourage all that are willing to accept the challenge to use jigs... they go where you can't put a minna...

I am not stuck on jigs or minnows. The best crappie fisherman I know used both. I would say he used mainly minnows. That was my Grandpa and I learned a ton from him but he has passed and I have moved to Texas. As I see it is any day fishing is a good day. I just love to eat them. As I put the time in I will learn them. I just wanted to see if the colors hold true down here. I know that some say pink is a go to but I have never used it but I still have the normal go to ones..
