    Default Beech River Lakes

What's up guys? I am new to the website and new to fishing the Beech River lakes. I live in Henderson and fish the St. Park Lakes all the time, however now that I am working in Lexington, I'll be spending more time on the water there since it will be easy to access after work. In your opinion what are the better lakes in the area for Crappie action and where should I begin looking in these areas? Any suggestions will be very helpful. I often fish lay downs, boat docks, and creek channels, but am unfamiliar to these waters... so I'm just trying to speed up the searching process.

They all have decient fish but some are harder to find +10" ones. I tend to stay away from Beech and Pin Oak (state park lake NOT BRWDA) later in the spring as boat traffic gets annoying. Cedar is always dependable for numbers just no size. I haven't done any good on Pine or Redbud. I have caught fish on Dogwood but have not fished it much. Sycamore has more nice fish in it but is getting fished harder, maybe because of this website???? There are also the TWRA lakes in Natchez Trace, Brown's, Cub and Maples.

Be aware that a permit is required for the BRWDA lakes, a different one for Pin Oak only AND a different one for the TWRA lakes. I have seen officers on all these lakes but have not been checked.

Keep an eye on this website as lake reports are posted periodically.

Thanks man! I have heard good things about Sycamore, I'll have to give it a try. I like to fish for keepers, but it's also fun to catch big numbers even if they are too small to keep. I have all the permits, so I should be good to go.

I like keepers also but finding them is tough on these lakes. Much easier to find them at the river. BTW, there is no length limit on Pin Oak OR any of the BRWDA lakes (Sycamore, Pine, Beech, Redbud, Dogwood and Cedar) and a 30 fish daily limit. I will keep fish 8" & up as it helps the lakes, they let us AND my wife likes the smaller fish better. Be sure on the permits, a sportsman's license DOES NOT include these lakes! It does cover Browns, Cub, Maples and Graham.

I am used to catching good crappie on the river also. Once the water gets right I'll be heading up that way. I have the BRWDA permit, $20, but it used to be 15 a few years ago right? When I fish the state park lakes near my house I usually don't catch large numbers of fish, but I catch more quality fish. We catch alot of 14 inch + fish there. I don't really like keeping them under about 8-9 inches too. I prefer to fillet all my fish, so as long as I can get a decent fillet, I'll keep em!!!
