    Default Blue Gill/ Perch question

I haven't tried using Blue Gill or Perch for cut bait before. I'm not sure what is legal to do to get Blue Gill or Perch. Can I cast net them or do I need to catch them via hook and line. I don't want to get a bait tank full of bait and have DNR stop and ticket me. What's the deal?
    Any help?

The way I understand it you can have 30 bream per person. an a total game fish 40 per person so as you use up the bait you can add to your catch.
    Does that make any sense?

I'd call the game warden and ask him. Years ago I used to fish jugs baiting with bought bream. The law back then was 50 jugs per person so I'd take a friend, fish 100 jugs, and have plenty of bream to cover the baiting process. I bought bream from a couple guys that had ponds, nets, and was in the business of selling.

I should mention this was in Ga where baiting with live bream was and is legal.

I don't think the bream is legal. Perch yes and by all means please but I believe bream is a game fish these days and you cannot bait with game fish

You can use bream but not whole bream. They have to be cut into two or more equal parts to be used. You can only have 30 bream (limit) and be sure if you have redbreast bream the limit is 15

Bream heads are my go to bait for blues. Channels don't seem to want them, only the bigger blues, of which I am after. If you scale and fillet the side meat they will eat it as well. Some use cut pieces, but I prefer the heads and fillets...all caught by hook though. I used to use crappie heads on wateree, but now with a 8" size limit you have to keep the crappie whole or it is 2 days in the electric chair...

I was told that you have to catch the bream in the same body of water that you plan on using them for bait. Could be wrong but that's what always I've been told.

The book reads, It is unlawful to use any nonindigenous fish as bait that is not already established in the water body being fished except the following ; minnows, fathead minnows, golden shiners and goldfish, including 'black salties'.
