Anyone with luck on Monticello

Me and my brother have fished Monticello this year probably 20 times since late Feb and have done nothing compared to years past. We have always caught them in the same spot and this year its been 4 or 5 and that's it. We went a week ago a nd I caught a 3lb 9 oz small mouth up near the nuclear plant. But the Crappie have us puzzled. Talked to few other guys we see there on regular basis and they seem to have similar luck. Anyone having any luck??

Awesome smallmouth!! I didn't know they were in that lake as most of the time they will be in cold water lakes or rivers. Congrats

We really had no clue either until about 2 months ago my brother caught one about the same size. He was fishing for cat fish. I was just throwing a big spinner bait along bank around some big rocks about 1in the morning and he grabbed it. Was so fun to catch on lite tackle. They fight like no other fish.

I bet they do. Never caught one that big but have caught some around a pound. That one is a pig.

Smallmouths are some fat suckers.....looks like theyd be some good eating. Congrats on catching that one.

Anyone having any luck on Monticello please let me know. Don't hae to give info about where your catching them. But would be nice to know if anyone been catching any limits there. Thanks a lot

Might not have many guys on here that fish Monticello. I know I have seen very few reports from that lake. I have only fished it 3 or 4 times myself, so I can't offer much help. We always seem to end up with several catfish, whether we were fishing for them or not.
I have a friend who fishes there quite a bit, but he is not a member here. He trolls exclusively for huge catfish using Buck Spoonplugs. I did not even know they still made them, but he swears by them. He has caught some huge cats and bass at Monticello doing that.
