    As a Newbie ... But Oldie to Fishin ....In Freshwater .... of all I have caught the Shellcracker (Red Ear To Some) has got to be tops ounce per ounce ....

    I know a wiper isn't a panfish but they keep making runs on ultralight that are just plain scary. 'Gills and red ears are tops in their weight class I do believe if they got as big as an big or small mouth they would beat those fighters easily. My favorite is a medium size channel on light tackle with a spinner or worm rig they hit like a po'ed bass and just keep going.
