In a book of fishing stories, I ran across a noteworthy phrase ; " The Law of Discontinued Perfection".
The author came up with it after breaking a favorite rod, then finding it was no longer made.
He explained the phrase as meaning that if you have only one of anything that is perfect for you, if you break it or lose it, you will then discover it was discontinued and no longer available.
However, if you buy a spare as backup, you'll never lose or break the 1st one.
I'm having a bit of that because I broke one of two Berkley rods that I love for jigging spoons, only to find it is no longer made. Now I'm paranoid when I use the one I have left.
