Wademaster, I have just used the billy bluegill spider this past year, but the colors that I liked best were black or olive with black or white rubber legs. I also am making poppers this winter out of flip flops. I used a hot needle to thread a string then the rubber legs through them on some and some I just tied the rubber on the outside like you would a foam spider on others. The great thing about tying your own is that you can experiment without very much capital involved.

black gnats made by a co. called "4- rivers" out of greenwood/greenville ms . (can never remember whick ) . they are out of buissness now but it is just like betts except betts has a feather that does not sink as well . when i run out I will buy the betts and cut the feather off .
