Hey y'all watch this
I live in Panama City and this time of year has always been my crappie fishing time; However I have caught some very nice Gills this year on Jigs. I also love to fly fish and I can't wait till spring. Deep Point Lake is known for some huge gills and shellcracker over a pound. I fly fish at night around docks and structure.
Good luck and tight lines.
Chet
I've been catching a few good ones at Old Lk Davenport . Couldn't find any gill at Osprey or Louisa last trip.
I catch a bunch pitchin sliders in brush and pads chasing crappie.
I used to take a small popper, smaller than usual, and work it slower than usual in the cold months. Let it sit for a very long time without contact after the cast. Sometimes the don't take it, but what a thrill when they do. Micro chenille on a #10 Eagle Claw baitholder hook tied to look like a maggot also works good.
