Thread: Oklahoma Get-Together

folks I am in this for the fishing/fishermen. I have been a passive observer of outside interest groups exploiting the fishermen. I have enjoyed some of the things that have come along and some I have watched in frustration. My hopes are that we can plan some events that all can enjoy and throw out some ideas to ponder on and get back together in the fall and decide on. Everyone who has an idea they want to share write it down before the meeting. It's always easier to remember something when you bring it to a groups attention if it is wrote down. Any carpenters want to come up with a suggestion box please do. Large but not too heavy. Thanks. I am excited about this forum and look forward to a couple of days of fishing with the best of Crappie fishermen anywhere.

Good input fish.on, My fingers are worn out from e-mailing tackle companies for product donations. I hope we have enough product for everyone! Anyone have any ideas for a schedule of events, ie: group meeting to start off, featured speaker....you get the picture. I need to come up with some raffle tickets, unless a member may have some.

How about meet and greet at 9:00 everyone wear a name tag of sorts please. Find out who is who and then formalize proceedings at 10:00. We need a list of sponsors, product reps, officials of OK (all officials who want to attend are definitely welcome and wanted), as for featured speaker if we don't know your coming you may not receive the recognition you deserve. We really need all this information now so we can put a list of events together. So contact either Leland or myself so we can organize this thing. Please remember this is all about Oklahoma fishermen who love this Crappie fishing sport. I would like to put together a recipe book and a fishing methods Oklahoma style book so if everyone don't mind bring your favorite method, time of year for it, favorite recipe and MAYBE I can have something ready by fall. I have been a public speaker so I could MC this thing but need some intelligent info on who is coming and what you represent so PLEASE let us know beforehand. Thanks.

Also I contacted Ed [Slab] the site owner; he's sending products from sponsors down to us as well, thanks Slab. He also asked for pics of the event be forwarded to him afterward. 9:00 AM is a tentative time for everyone, dont worry about keeping it, as we dont have a schedule of events anyways, looks more like seat-of-pants lol.:D

I was really trying to ask if you could keep the centralized first post updated with details, as they get ironed out, like schedule and other new info.

What about Mr. Huckabee as the featured speaker to get this off the ground? If it fit his schedule it might be worth a try. With him living in the area now? and the local business seems like a good fit.

Any guide including Todd that wants to come to this meeting and be recognized is more than welcome to have some input. Most guides (and I know a few) are protective of places and methods and usually promote the sponsors who sponsor them. If a guide is coming and would like to promote his sevices let us know and we will recognize them and let everyone have a look at them in case they may want to use their services. I personally would like an ODWC official or Oklahoma wildlife biologist to be our guest speaker as they would be more informative as to all the lakes and plans for Oklahoma as well as the upcoming predictions based on shocking and counting fish in area lakes etc. We all could benefit from this as well as ask questions and ask them to consider ideas that would benefit sportsmen. Any person who has a business is welcome to promote his business as they see fit. If you want to be recognized please let me or Leland know so we can do so. Recognition comes from the people hosting this thing and can only be done if those who want to be recognized speak up. There are no big I's or little you's here. If you have a business pertaining to fishing and you want it promoted please let us know. Thanks Big George and we are trying to get an idea on all raffling also. Anyone who wants to raffle an item let us know. Any sponsors who have a promotional packet for fishermen let us know. Please don't wait till the last minute and deluge us with this info.
