You are supposed to slice up some bananas and place on top of your peanut butter or mix and then spread on your pancakes!

We always did a PB and honey blend, on pancakes or bread. Still do, occasionally.

After being at sea a few days we'd run out of eggs and milk and went to the dried version. After about 6 weeks we replenished at sea once and took on 'fresh' eggs. The case
had 'cold storage, Italy, 1944' printed on the outside......and this was in about 1965!
    Waste not, want not, Bob.
The part about "printed on the outside" reminded me of my days as a first aid officer for the Forest Service on the bigger fires. We had a fire that took several weeks to control. Base camp was at a hike-in only location, and food and supplies were dropped by helicopter into a meadow about a half-mile down the mountain. After about two weeks of skimpy, canned rations, a couple of the guys ran down the mountain as the chopper made its drop. They found a crate with printing on the outside that was not totally legible, but they could make out "chops". They hustled up the mountain, went to the camp cook, and declared: "Cook us up some of these pork chops.......please." Cookie opened the crate and discovered that the printing actually said: "Chain saw with chaps.", resulting in a lot of these:

Since we have moved from peanut butter to war stories....

In 1962 as an infantry recon troop I spent a lot of time in the Korean DMZ (demilitarized??) We lived off C-rations that we carried up with us for a couple of weeks at a time. Back then, the C's each had a five pack of cigarettes in them. I smoked back then and my favorite brand was Lucky Strikes. The ones we had in the C's were the old color dark green packages. Lucky strike changed colors in 1942, the year I was born. As I recall they tasted only slightly better than grapevine.

I was thinking the same thing.

Sorry I missed this gathering. Hopefully I can make it to the next one if it's a little closer to Tulsa. I did drive down to OKC on Saturday, but didn't get there till around noon to go see my dad for his 77th birthday.

This thread is in danger of being moved to the off topic section since there is no discussion of Crappie fishing. Shoulda had Ed build you guys a guber section.

Anybody ever take peanut butter sandwiches or SOS with them when they go crappie fishing? Just wondering if you put it on your top jig or bottom?

Floyd, I smoked Luckies too back then. Bought them on board ship for ten cents a pack or $1 per carton!

Guys, I'm gonna try this. I just put some BG shad in a zip lock with some PB. I usually use slab slobber but I think the PB will be a good attractant. I WILL report back in a few days (in a new topic.) Let's let this one die.
