Thanks midnight, appreciate your compliment. Water main was cut up above my place and a torrent of water is running down the hill and I took this picture of the creek. This is how it looks when its raining heavy and I got to take this picture without a drop of rain hitting me;

I'm tempted to sit down in my lawn chair on the ramp and listen to this water as it flows down my creek (it makes this wonderful-soothing sound) but I suppose I need to get back to work instead.
For the last 3 nights, this big ol hairy spider has built his web next to my flood lights. Its the most beautiful web I have ever seen and it's a marvel to see how much trouble he goes in spinning this eccentric circle.

This spider is about the size of a half-dollar and really a mean looking rascal. He stays on his toes too, the instant a bug flies into his web, he's all over it.
I learned something the last few nights watching him do his work, candleflies use that coating of dust covering their body to escape and make em less prone to stick to the web. As quick as he is, he doesn't always get em before they wiggle out and fly away.
Isn't nature a wonderful thing. I've never really thought about that dust all over candleflies, but it's a defense built in by nature and now I understand why the dust is there.
To stand on my deck and gaze at the precision used in building this web is interesting too. Those strands appear as though they were measured by some precise instrument, but they weren't. Just the genetic code built into the spider and his instinct to weave a web.
Another interesting thing I see is that the spider placed the web by the floodlight knowing that is where all the action is with flying insects.
I sat there last night and wondered what was going on in the spider's mind. Does he have any thoughts or is he just like a little machine, doing what his program tells him to do.
One more thing; When one of the candleflies escapes the spider, especially when he is all over them and they manage to wiggle free and fly away, they don't come back...... I mean they take off and disappear into the dark of the night.
Hope you found this interesting and I hope your next fishing trip is a success.:D
Stink - Sounds like a big garden spider. Is he black and yellow or red and black??
sort of a grayish/light brown color George. Almost the color of a cigar ash. He's been around here for a long time, I've seen him using the tree next to the house as his web stand. I actually walked into his web this summer and went to kill him, but thought better not to. Glad I left him alone now.
That's neat. I suspect you are starting to kick back and enjoy the fall colors from your porch. It sure feels good to get the cabin done, doesn't it. Now cut plenty of wood for your stove cause you may need it. Drink an adult beverage, smoke a fine cigar and enjoy the fruits of your labors, it is loooooooooooonnnnnnnnnggggggggg overdue.:)
Here are some pics of the interior of the cabin after the laminated flooring has been installed.

The tile has just been laid (notice the fan helping to dry the quick-set) and will be grouted later this evening. This is where the wood stove will set. It will be here next week and I'm hoping to have it installed and heating the house soon there after.

I've still got to install the transitional pieces at each door where the flooring meets and trim around the tile for the wood stove, but today is a designated day of rest. Done about all I am going to do today and I'm just barely able to walk after spending the last three days installing the flooring. My knees and everything connected to them are sore and worn out. I just kept telling myself, get this installed and it will be the last time you ever have to do a laminated floor.
That's about it for now and I want to thank you for looking.:)
Getting real close to being finished with my cabin. Still have to have the kitchen cabinets installed and that will be done the 2nd week of December if all goes according to plans.

Here's a picture looking through the picture window towards the lake. Still a lot of leaves on the trees, but the view will get better this winter.
