Talala Creek, land of a thousand dinks. Got one 10"er and wore out the dinks this morning.

When are those oologah dinks gonna grow up Reaper? We have been throwing back 9" fish for 4 years.

Well, the dinks grew a little today during an otherwise really frustrating day on the Oo. On the water by 6:30 and looking for the pile we killed em on last week- could not find it. I can only assume Reaper dragged it to Talala Creek for more dink cover. Headed to the next pile and it was taken. #3 had a few fish on it but when I put my trolling motor down to pinpoint them my TM was dead. During the process of trying to fix the TM I knocked out the big motor. While Dennis threw little bitty crappie at me I spent 2 hours + getting everything running again. About noon we found a new pile to me that was covered up with fish with slabs pooled up on both ends. Jigs wouldn't buy a bite til I finally started tipping em with Dennis' shiners then it was every drop for a short time just as he got a call that pulled us off the water 30 minutes after we found them. About 2 out of 3 were good fish but nothing special 10-12". We threw a bunch back and he kept about a dozen for some company coming to dinner tonight. 30 fow and we caught fish from 24' to the bottom. Felt like I could have caught a hundred there if we had a few more hours. I have never seen that many fish on a brush pile before and I won't sleep well tonight thinking about that image on my screen and all those unmolested slabs. Very frustrating day but at least we didn't have to paddle back to the ramp.

Shoot George, I can't even drag myself to the ramp in this heat, let alone drag someones brush pile. You should give me the coords of that last one you were on so I can guard it.

On another thread one of my heroes mentioned that the thermocline on Oologah is at 15-20'. I didn't see it and did see and catch fish at 24-30' last week. I haven't been on the north end for a while. Is it possible that it stratifies in one area and not another? Still learning here....

That HDS unit will show the thermocline wherever you're at. Take your contrast settings off auto and go higher. I've been getting bit below the line at times.

Ciller you can see it really well on the bottom scan over the channel. It's the grey haze in the water column. If you really want to check it jump out and swim down till it gets cold. That's a sure fire way to tell. When it's 100 degrees we do that often lol. The north end of Eufaula is 8-10ft where the South end of Tenkiller is 20-25ft or even deeper. Just guessing on Killer tho.
