Late posting my tribulations of fishing the Big O this past week so here goes. Last Friday being the 2nd time ever on this body of water and getting a direction to start by Odie we decided to start out on the North end. Long Story short we fished piles (6-7) in 24'-28' catching fish on all of them. We kept 40 and releasing another 200 or so. A 6 to 1 ratio. Lots of catching and jerking. WT was 36 degrees.
Tuesday we unloaded in Talala Ck fishing several piles there but not finding what we wanted we ventured north fishing many piles. (Search n Locate Mission This Day) fished around the rap both sides, up north around the channel in the standing timber, Spencer Creek, and Blue Creek. This was a day where no matter where we went we just couldn't get them to bite. A blue bird day after the front. Didn't keep any fish but had 19 keepers and a total of 40-50 or so. WT was 44
Wednesday had a trip with clients. Started off as a very foggy morning and the fish were shallow at a depth of 15' to 18' and hungry. As the sun burned the fog off the fish left the shallow wood and went deeper. Had to be in 24' and deeper to get bit. With lots of competition I headed north of the bridge and started looking for wood on the deep channel breaks. What I found was you could not get bit unless you were on the outside edge of a bend in the river channel in 30'-32'. They were stacked up suspended over any stump or lay down trees at 15'. Caught over 200 and kept 40. WT was 51.
Technique was double dipping Timmy toms Weedless jigs with bonehead stump bugs and mikes custom baits.

I went out a few days ago and flew my plane around the lake to see where you guys were. I was about 20 feet off the water if any of you saw me and wondered who that nut was. Got the boat ready for the first trip out this year and plan on going out this weekend.

The tournaments and crappie camps are two different events (although sometimes they coincide.) The Tenkiller tournament is April 25th, I believe. The Crappie Camp at Tenkiller is the first weekend in June. It's a family affair - here is info about it.

Let's move to those threads for discussion so we don't hijack the Oologah thread. You'll enjoy any of the events.

Well , went out yesterday. Nothing. Went to a creek on the middle east side. Found no structure. Great boat ride and my old boat did great. Can you get a map that shows where the brush piles are and names the creeks on the lake.. I sure would like to learn how to fish. I have a black and white graph that seems to work. I took a friend and was embarrassed.

There is another thread that someone started for a map, here is the basic creeks and landings map - http://www.swt.usace.army.mil/Portal...gah%20Lake.pdf

Some brush piles - 404 - File or directory not found. (It says not found, but it works.)

Check out - Navionics Webapp to get an idea of the structure, but be advised Navionics is way off on depths in most of the creeks.
