Cleaned 3 females, eggs don't look ready to me. Talked to a guy that thought the spawn was mostly over, I was thinking it was mostly still to come. What do you guys think? Water 72 to 77 degrees, up 9 degrees from Sunday.
A week ago during the last storm, I caught big males right on the bank and almost every fish was either dark or a female full of eggs. If we get stable water levels I bet you this is about as good as its going to get for the spawn.

Fished with Ledge yesterday from 8:00- 3:00 at the Big O. We covered more water on that lake than I ever have in one day to finish with 7 keepers combined. We fished 3 different creeks, stumps, brush, rocks, grass and ledges. Depths from 1ft to 20ft. Water was beautiful, water temp was 70+, wind was never bad anywhere we fished but just couldn't put together anything.

A boat less friend of mine fished the banks around the park at Hawthorn ( far south end of the lake) with good results. He is a minnow man but somehow caught a big female on a jig along with several males. It was a real mixed bag with green carp, hybrids and sandies but he pushed through the trash fish and did well.

Pretty tough day on the big O today. The sun only peaked out a couple of times all day and we had cool water temps starting at 54 and ending at 57. The Corp pulling water at the dam and the cold front with snow the last few days had the crappie backed out into deeper water. I fished with my friend Tom from Locust Grove and we caught 17 keepers and 10 dinks. We caught an equal amount of males and females with some of the females close and others looking like they still needed a few more weeks. It was definitely a minnow day today, tried every jig color I could think of and only managed 2 crappie. We caught all our fish on brush piles in 10 to 16ft. Seemed like we did our best fishing 12ft deep with double minnow rigs. Bet it gets much better this week when the water warms up again.
