Headed to the lake Saturday with my buddy Dudley. Weather was close to as good as it gets for January. Wind supposedly 5 to 10, you know how that goes on Oologah. Went the weekend before and caught 10 and never really found them. Gave Odie a call on the way and he gave me the skinny on how he'd been doin and he got my blood pressure up with stories of his exploits. Changed my plans and followed his advise on where to go. We got on the water around 11 and instantly started boating fish. We were both laughing and razzing each other about all the missed throws into the livewell after 30 minutes of none stop action. The bite slowed as time went by, but we were still catching fish every 5 or 10 minutes. Fished the rest of the afternoon and brought home 54 keepers and probably threw back that many dinks. The jigs that worked the best were 1/32oz solid black hair jigs. Didn't have many of them and tried other colors black and chartreuse, orange, black and chartreuse and several other hair jigs and they all caught fish. Plastics caught fish too, but not nearly as many. Fished brush in 19 to 23FOW, fishing 17-21ft deep. Fish were biting really soft for the most part, we really had to watch our rod tips. Just one of those lucky winter days for me and my buddy. Thanks Doug for helping us find the fish.
