Hey everyone, we located some fish on the west side of the lake yesterday. We were fishin' some new prototype baits that are going to released in the next couple weeks from Redneck Rubber. We caught our fish in 27 fow, 20' deep. Had to have chart. On them

    hope this helps!!!

Headed to the lake Saturday with my buddy Dudley. Weather was close to as good as it gets for January. Wind supposedly 5 to 10, you know how that goes on Oologah. Went the weekend before and caught 10 and never really found them. Gave Odie a call on the way and he gave me the skinny on how he'd been doin and he got my blood pressure up with stories of his exploits. Changed my plans and followed his advise on where to go. We got on the water around 11 and instantly started boating fish. We were both laughing and razzing each other about all the missed throws into the livewell after 30 minutes of none stop action. The bite slowed as time went by, but we were still catching fish every 5 or 10 minutes. Fished the rest of the afternoon and brought home 54 keepers and probably threw back that many dinks. The jigs that worked the best were 1/32oz solid black hair jigs. Didn't have many of them and tried other colors black and chartreuse, orange, black and chartreuse and several other hair jigs and they all caught fish. Plastics caught fish too, but not nearly as many. Fished brush in 19 to 23FOW, fishing 17-21ft deep. Fish were biting really soft for the most part, we really had to watch our rod tips. Just one of those lucky winter days for me and my buddy. Thanks Doug for helping us find the fish.

Great day Whisperman but I think 74 was your limit. I know you're not old so maybe you are mathematically challenged?

George I was thinkin 54 keepers was pretty good for me and Dudley in January. We were proud of catchin more than a 2 man limit even if some of them were dinks. Yep, I'm definitely old and mathematically challenged. Wish you would come home and help me catch some and keep count.

For me 54 keepers in one month would be a banner January. I'll be home soon with my clicker , digitals and yardstick. See you then.

If you lease a slip, then you have a chance to catch something. If you don't you're only dock option is at Hawthorn.

So I'm going through two tool boxes yesterday out in the shop in preparation of making enough room to back the 373v in to begin the restoration. Ken Roberson gives me a call and asks if I would like to go out on Oologah. I thought he had just gone to Jareds because I said yes!

Odie Doug had stopped by earlier in the morning on his way to launch so I could measure his trailer axles/frame. He had a jump start by a couple of hours on us. Ken showed up and as always, it was a pleasure to see him. Fishing with Ken is a pleasant adventure. We spent the first 2 hours just looking at a few spots I wanted to show him, and vice versa. One of which took us out into the big water that would normally get me very concerned about safety, and wonder about my Captains capabilities in such conditions. Other than an occassional wave catching the side of the boat to rock us, his Skeeter Scooted Safely towards Wigannon bridge to head North a ways. The occasional hard landings off a nice wave made me wonder how well the fiberglass of the '84 373v would hold up in the same situation. We looked at a couple of spots and saw some nice fish on the down low but didn't fish it because of the conditions.

We headed back towards Talala Creek for calmer water and settled for a spot that was good to us a couple of weeks back when Dick had joined us. We started catching the usual Oologah fish with one worth keeping out of three caught. Using nothing but our Huckabee rods and a jig, we were able to boat some decent fish while fighting about half the wind strength. We weren't in for a lot of fish to keep and tossed many back only keeping those that were worthy. Ken whooped me pretty bad numbers wise for the day. Doug stopped off to talk while on his way in with his friend. They had had a good day out an am sure he'll post about it when he has time.

We went on the hunt again marking a few more spots, fishing a few of them, then closing the day at one of my favorite spots. I ended up with big fish that was close to 14" but don't think it was quite there. After trailering the boat, the Mother of a couple of my neighbors boys brought her truck and empty boat trailer in to pick up her boys that were out setting coon feeders. I offered the 16 Crappie to them and they accepted. They're pretty good boys and will most likely be joining me every now and then in the future. All in all it was a great day to not be working in the shop and I thank Mr. Roberson for that!

I sure like those Huckabee Dippin Sticks!

We fished Tuesday in Talala Creek from 10-4. Like Craig said about 1in 3 or 4 were keepers. We caught our fish a little shallower than we had been, mainly because our deeper stuff was unfishable due to the wind. We finished the day with 45 nice fish but nothing bigger than 1.25. Blue/white were our best colors. We did meet another nice fellow who had just moved down from Kansas. He was minnow fishing and we gave him some jigs and he started catching them like crazy. He said he would definitely be getting him some blue/white jigs. We also visited with Charlie and his dog. He is another Kansan who recently moved to Talala. What is next?? CHATT leaving KANSAS?? I don't know if we could stand him and Reaper together in the same town

    Odie

PS You guys will have Oologah to youselves until Monday we are headed to Hugo for CRAPPIE CAMP!! I hope we survive
