This yr the conditions aren't bad but I'm struggling to put anything together. I fished most the day Saturday with 4 fish to my name and fished half a day today back in Spencer and never got a hit. So far I've been shut down north of blue creek. Its frustrating not even being able to put together a meal! I still haven't heard of anyone banging them up. Has the last year and a half taken a toll on the crappie population?? I wouldve thought the bad conditions last spring would've helped the pop and increase the ave size since the lake was a bust for most the spawn. Any thoughts? Switch lakes?? I've really wanted to get to know ft Gibson and the grand river more. My only prob or negative motivation is I'm 15 mins from oolagah vs 45 to an hr to ft Gibson. Any wisdom is appreciated! BTW I've fished shallow, deep, float and jig, verticle jig, minnows, you name it a lot of diff colors and styles too nothing seems to bring together a pattern in 4 trips this spring.
I killed them friday, crashed and burned sunday. The difference between the day of a low pressure and 2 days after, I am guessing. I didnt even see any fish on the finder Sunday in most of the places that had fish stacked on Friday. Maybe pick your days better if you are able to fish when you want. Also talk to the man running winganon store, he can send you to productive spots.

I have 2 lowrance HDS 7 finders and a hot maps chart for the south which includes oologah. I've notice a lot of the brush I fished 2 springs ago is gone. I do need to ck the army corp site for newer drops. I'm stuck fishing the weekends unless I take vacation like yesterday but there's not a lot of that for me to take. Anyhow time will tell but it sure is a bummer specially looking fwd at the weather.

    ErieAngler:

I sent my phone number via PM. Give me a call and we can talk boats. Your Live Well intake should have a plastic strainer over it.

I installed a timer on mine so I wouldn't run the battery down.

I found mine cheaper on Ebay.

My boat is a 1997 Fisher Pro Avenger Spectrum with a 75 HP Force motor. Was used very little when I found it a couple of years ago.

Mark, this helps tremendously! I poured a bucket of water in the livewell per Slabmaster's recommendation and saw which hole it was running out. The other holes with screens must be intakes? Do you ever guide on Oologah?

Your 7's are good units. Question, are you comfortable with them and do you have an LLS1 for the side and down scan? With the 7's, you should be able to determine whether there are fish or not within the brushpile you're checking out. Some folks have a tendancy to fish something that's showing zero fish. Just move on until you see a couple of fish holding within the pile. Right now, Oologah is in the spawn. The rising of the lake has changed things a bit, but not too much. A front moves in, rains change the temp for a day or two. Today should be pretty good since we've had two days of strong sunshine.

You're probably right regarding spending more time marking fish in shallow water. I've spent 15 years fishing large expanses of open water on lake Erie fishing for walleye, steelhead, perch and bass and am by far more comfortable with electronics in deeper open water. Here I've admittingly looked for brush piles depth contours etc and fished those. My confidence marking fish in less than 10 fow diminishes greatly. I need that steady day to give me another boost of confidence on oologah. This weather at the end of this week is rediculous for may. Where were all these cold fronts during hunting season??!

Another miss tonight fished redbud hard with only a couple to show. I've caught a lot of fish there in the past figured I'd give it a shot before the weather goes south.....to no avail. Heard a 2nd hand report that a limit was caught from spencer last night in 1 fow. Sounded like a really good shallow bite before dark. For what it's worth!

Kept 14 tonight from Blue. One real good one, 13 solid fish, threw about 8 or so back. RoadRunners and jigs, no real rhyme or reason as to where, but between 2 and 5 feet deep. Cleaned 3 females, eggs don't look ready to me. Talked to a guy that thought the spawn was mostly over, I was thinking it was mostly still to come. What do you guys think? Water 72 to 77 degrees, up 9 degrees from Sunday.
