Sounds like we had the same mother, father, and maker...lol. Maybe it's meant to be that we try a fishin trip together. Holler at me sometime, we'll thin the population out a little. I've been fishin alone since my buddy found a new wife.

Hey now you two don't thin them out where I can't get any. I'm new to this crappie stuff. I've caught a few in my time but not many. Hooked on bass fishing all those years. I like to catch some walleye too. Don't know the lake at all but hopefully figure it out and find some fish.

And another one crosses over from the dark side. Welcome to Crappie fishing!

Talala Creek was tough yesterday. We started deep since that's where we finally found some on Tuesday. We caught dinks in several places, yet only came off with two worth keeping fishing all day. Only one brush pile produced a bite on a semi regular basis and we got blown off that spot when the wind shifted into high gear in a matter of seconds. So, after two days in a row fishing the Talala Creek area, we're moving on to Spencer Creek and Goose Island for today.

Nope, still holding off on my purchase. I am considering the SI units with the larger screens. As you know, they are higher priced. I thought the 798 was hard to swallow

It's been awhile since I've been able to get out on the water due to stuff at work so I decided to take a couple days off to try and catch a few. The long range forecast earlier in the week made Thursday and Friday of this week look pretty good. However, yesterday the changed the wind forecast to 25 mph winds gusting to 30. So, I strategically decided to hit Talala creek early in the morning before the winds picked up too much and then move on to Big Creek later in the day where I could hide from the wind a bit.

It was a beautiful morning and I had Talala Creek all to my self for awhile. I tried several brush piles in varying depths using jigs only. Water temp was around 46. I hunted all over the creek but only managed one nice keeper and a couple dinks. The wind picked up so I decided to load up and head to Big Creek. I didn't have high hopes because even though I have heard good things, I have never managed to catch many out of Big Creek. Unfortunately, today was no different. I never got a bite. I talked to one other boat who was having the same luck as I was. So, I introduced the crappie from Talala Creek to his new home and headed out. Water temp got up to 51 at Big Creek.

Now I'm trying to decide where to go tomorrow. I don't know very many good spots on Oologah to get out of the North wind so I'm thinking of trying out Keystone or maybe making the drive to Eufaula...uggh.

Reaper the last few times I was in Talala Creek the shad were so thick that I literally had trouble spotting the brush on my locater. I have never been in Spencer Creek but am hoping to make it there next week. It looks like the Corp has put out a lot of brush piles there.imagine the wind kept you at home today but let me know how you do there if you would. I am still trying to figure out how to catch crappie from a boat. At 60 years old maybe I am too old to learn a new trick! Thanks for the report. It gives me hope that I may find them one day soon.

I went out yesterday but put in at Hawthorne expecting the wind to get nasty. I hugged the west bank of the lake and fished Skull Hollow and as much of the western bank off the main lake as I could. Fishing was spotty, Caught keepers anywhere from 4' below a bobber to 12' in about 19' fow. Ended the day with around 12 fish 10" or better. The wind was very tough and was very happy I had watched the weather and changed my plans. Might try again today but wind is still howling this morning whereas it's supposed to only be 10 -18 mph. I might just have to do some type of domestic chore today. Sigh.....
