    Default Thanks for the Pointers

You guys are great, thanks so much for the pointers! I am thinking about starting out at Blue creek just to get my feet wet on Oologah. I am a new boat owner so I am still learning the ropes, spent most of the summer on Skiatook just playing with the family but I am ready to get into lake fishing this year and have heard Oologah is the better fishing lake of the two.

Thinking about just launching at Blue Creek and fishing in there, any pointers on Blue Creek?

Yes, fish brushpiles from 15 to 30 feet. Get in them, around them, and on top of them. The fish are there. If you don't have a gps locator that's virtually impossible though.

I agree George about Bobby Garland, they supported the MonsterFest and are a sponsor of Crappie.com. I have bought all the Bobby Garlands I have and I love them. I was just saying I have gotten a GOOD DEAL on some Yum and BP shops baby shads lately. I fully intend on asking Yum and BP shops to donate to our upcoming tournaments and should they choose not to I won't promote them. I will definately promote OUR SPONSORS stuff. That is why I am a CRAPPIE PRO jig head man. First they are the best hooks I have used, not to mention by far the sharpest. Larry also is a BIG supporter of Crappie fishing in this state and sponsored our tournament last summer, as well as the MonsterFest. It is like anything else, we will promote who donates to our cause. Right now Bobby Garland and Crappie Pro are our biggest supporters.

Went out today from 9:00 to 4:00 and it was a pretty rough day. We caught 15 and only had 7 keepers. The weather man obviously doesn't know what 5-10 mph wind is. It had to be gusting to 20 and it made it tough to hold on anything you wanted to fish, not to mention feel a bite, or watch you line. I don't think the crappie wanted to play anyway, I never got a hard thump all day. Just a nibble with a little rod movement, or a little weight on the line. Tried lots of different colors, caught fish on black and chartreuse Bobby Garlands, electric chicken hackle jigs, blue and white whasshoppers, black hair jigs, and christmas tree hair jigs. They really didn't seem interested in anything. The fish we caught were in 18 to 25 fow, didn't see much shallower than that. Probably try deeper water next time I go out. Maybe some river or creek channel ledges. They gotta be somewhere and I think that's where the shad are. Somebody tell the weather man we need some calm days to fish deep water.
