Welcome, and to be honest, the Talala Creek area bite has been really off bad. I just happen to know a couple of places that tend to hold fish while others are striking out. I'm guessing, but slab daddy may have been fishing the extremely shallow creeks on the North (lightning creek or salt creek) end of the lake out of a scamp, or wading? I say this only because I've heard many word of mouth reports that the spawn is on hard and heavy in that area of water. The other boats I saw on Talala Creek, I didn't see much action happening, but at times they were too far away to see much. I did see a couple of boats stay at one spot for quite some time. They may have been on some fish. To access the ramp at Talala Creek, turn north on hwy 169, go through Oologah and Talala and follow the speed limits, especially in Talala! Once through Talala, you'll go over two small bridges about a mile and a half N of town, turn right on road 310. Go straight until the road Tees, turn right again, follow it down until it turns back to the east, the ramp lot will be on your right. The name of the ramp is Vada Point and is a free ramp and is wind friendly. You can drive down facing the lake on the gravel to the right side and you'll be able to turn up hill onto the ramp at the bottom so you won't have to back so far down. Caution, if you venture into the standing timber, take it easy as there are numerous submerged trees. Talala Creek has about every type of structure, fall offs, flats that a lake could offer. I've fished it for over 8 years and still don't know it enough.
Spencer Creek is a another good bet for you, but it's on the east side of the lake, but the brush is everywhere from the cor[s volunteer days.
Good luck!

After 3 months, I finally got my boat together enough to get it out and see what was going on at Oologah on Saturday. The weather wsn't the greatest but I was iching to get out so off I went. I launched at Red Bud and fished a few piles on the south end of the lake in various depths and didn't do any good. So we headed for Blue Creek to see if they were in there. We got in there and hit a pile or 2 with no luck so we started to head up into the creek. I looked up and saw that a very ominous cloud line had snuck up on us so we hauled butt back to Red Bud and literally got the boat out of the water as the dime size hail started. We headed up to Talala Creek to wait out the storm and once it passed, we launched at Allen's Point and headed around into the creek. There were only a couple of boats in there which surprised me but we eased past a couple of guys and started looking for fish across from the ramp. We weren't having any luck in the creek so we decided to look for some piles when I heard this crazy AAHHUUUGGGAAA! from across the cove. I had heard speak of this horn on Crappie.com so I figured I'd slide over and introduce myself. It was none other than Reaper! We visited for a few minutes about the bite. I told Craig we had been striking out and he was nice enough to point out a couple of piles nearby for us to try. We found the piles and caught a few in 13 to 18 FOT on minnows just before dark. We visited with Craig again on the way out and he was gracious enough to toss us a couple slabs to make our few a full bag of fillets. It was a pleasure to meet him and I hope I get the chance to fish with him sometime soon. Thank you again Craig!

Took my retired buddy out yesterday and he proceeded to flat put it on me. We started across from the ramp to hide from the wind and see if any were making their way up the creek. Bill caught a couple of keepers and I got squat. We moved out into the wind at a familiar spot and we caught some more. Moved south to hide from the wind again, I almost lost a rod to about a 5lb drum that nailed my jig while I was fixing some lunch. I caught one keeper there. Moved to an area I dropped a couple of buckets of 1x2 last year, Bill caught two nice ones around 13", hooked a very nice fish, got it to the surface where I saw the size and I jumped up to grab the net. I had the net within two inches of the fish when it came off his jig. I swept the net down into the water trying to grab it and missed. It was a crappie and it was at least 18" and about 10" from top to bottom. It had to go past the three pound range. I think I was more upset than he was as he just laughed it off.
Final count on keepers, Bill 20, me 6. Most fish were still holding around brush 11' - 13' deep in 13' to 15' water. Water temps varied, coves were cooler as the rain Saturday may have had an effect. Water rose a foot from Saturday to Sunday. Seems the best bite was happening in the bigger wind. I don't know if I'll have a chance to get back out until after the Eufaula get together.
Robert, if you can stand being in a smaller boat, you're welcome to join me anytime.

I met bighook this afternoon at 345 for a few hours of fishing. Wind was hard to fish in but we managed to catch about 20 fish and kept 9. Most fish were caught in 10- 15 fow. The best color was cajun cricket, we did catch a few on blk/char. Most all fish over 11 inches with a couple over 13. I enjoyed meeting bighook in person after visiting with him several times on the board.

Common sense isn't always that common!
Odie, when you going to start guide service?
Yeah when? I have been on Odie's guide service and let me tell you it is top of the line on Oolagah! He knows his stuff on that lake. EB
Went and fished below oologah damn Monday and caught one channel cat that weighed in at 2 lbs. Tried for sandies and crappie but not even a nibble. Water was crystal clear. Nobody else was catching anything. I went to claremore lake Tuesday a caught a couple of nice crappie. The biggest was 15 inches. I also caught three nice bass. All fish were full of eggs. Caught them all from bank in a cove out of the wind.
Went out on oolagah. Managed 17 on minnows and jigs. Had to work harder than days past. 2-6 ft in 3-8 ft of water.
I finally got a chance to fish with Odie, and it was a real pleasure. It is great to find out that there are some good people on the website, Odie is a super fisherman and a high quality person. It was fun to fish with him, and see his techniques. I hope we do more of it in the future! Odie also gave me a hot tip, and on the way home I used my little head lamp and stopped in at the creek by my house just to see what was happening. Wow! I found a nest of nice Spawners, and had a ball! I even got a chance to try it again yesterday, and it was no fluke! They were on the bank! A few of the females had bloody eggs and were about to pop! I never would have guessed this was happening already, but in the small creeks the water is getting right fast! Thanks for the tip Odie!!! My favorite style of fishing is jigging, and when they are up shallow busting the jig with a serious thump, it is an absolute blast in my book! Break out the long poles!!!
