I was wondering if they were spawned out yet at Oolagah. I've done exceptionally well this year and was catching them on the banks last Friday. I then had to go to Minnesota for a week and missed out on a lot of crappie. Hopefully these storms coming in this evening don't turn them off. I'd like to get out there tomorrow. Did anybody fish yesterday?

I am not sure if this post will get answered in time or not but I thought I would try. I am going to Oologah tomorrow. I was going to go this morning but my 2 year old daughter was up all night with a fever, I had my alarm set for 5 AM, but when she got up for the last time @ 3:30 with me not getting any sleep previous to that, I said to myself "not gonna do it" and turned off the alarm.

Anyways, I am going tomorrow morning. I was thinking about putting out at Spencer Creek. I have a 2 man boat so I have to stay close to wherever I am putting out at. I am open to suggestions if there is a better recommended ramp to put out of. I have never Crappie fished at Oologah and I havent even been there in probably over 5 years. I am excited about going but I'd like to ask for a little direction on whats my best bet. Also, I was wondering if there is a place near the lake to get some minners at about 6 am in the morning, or do I even need to mess with minnows and just stay with jigs? I'll probably bring some punch bait too and try to catch some channels. Any help is greatly appreciated.

This might be out of your way. But lakedrive Bait between dam and spillway sells minnows.
Also Connoco in Oologah sells minnows.

I don't think Tacora will be open at 6. The Conoco in Oologah is now a Phillips, but the locals still say Conoco or Petes. They'll be open and should be able to sell you some.
The spawn has about played out. You can still find some fish near the banks around brush in two to five foot of water. I went out today and brought home 32 to clean. Most of the bigger fish are already out deeper. Mine averaged 10-11" for the most part with the biggest close to 14". I tossed back at least 25-30 dinks. Good Luck!

Well I must be doing something wrong because I went today and didnt do well at all. I put out at spencer creek. Fished from 7am-11am and only caught 2 sandbass and 1 Crappie. I fished the bank right across from the ramp where the water inlet is (or whatever that thing is) because I have heard you can catch some there. Didnt catch anything at all there. Then I went back closer the ramp and fished the rocky deeper bank that is kind of to the east of the ramp. This is where I caught the 2 sandies and 1 crappie. I tried moving off the bank a little too and and didnt have much luck that way either. I talked to a guy who was bank fishing and he said he did pretty good yesterday but hasnt caught anything at all today. I couldnt locate any good deep standing timber. I should have studied the brush pile map Coyote told me about but I thought I would catch some stragglers near the bank still so I didnt mess with looking at it.
I used black/chartreuse tube jib and a pink/black tube jig. I caught the 2 sandbass on both jigs at once and I thought I found a nice school of them, but didnt catch anymore after that. Wish I could have a better report but not this time.

Got out yesterday afternoon around 430 and fished until 8. We caught about 30 fish and kept 20. The size wasn't very good, the biggest one was 12 inches. We were throwing RR's to the bank and slowly retrieving them, allowing them to bounce off the bottom. We caught them on the bank and all the way out into 15 fow. Our best color was a white 1/8 oz head and a blue and white body.

The other good part about throwing a RR is you can catch any species of fish. We caught 2 channel cats, a big carp, a drum, a sand bass, and a goggle eye. My son and my friends son had never fished with a RR before and they both caught 2 crappie. My son said he has found a new favorite way to fish.
