Got to
Talala Creek ramp about 6:30 this morning, prolly started fishing around 7:15.

There were on;y 2 other rigs parked there so I figured that yesterday hadn't been real good or there would be more people there.

We worked the banks of all the coves on the right hand side with black/chartruese 3" slab slayers and 3" pink/blk Yum Beavertails and came up with one small sandbass. The wind made it very hard to fish, so we decided to head back to the first cove as it was the only one that was protected.

We anchored up in the calmest spot we could find and fished in 1/2-6 fow and fished jigs and minnows.

We talked to some folks that said that they went crazy about 6:00 and then quit. And quit is what they seemed to have done the rest of the time we were there.

We worked the lay downs on the channel bank around the corner from the ramp and managed to pull two small black males out, then we had to leave. My partner had to be back by 3:00

Sure was disappointed and frustrated, but may try to get back out about Tuesday.

Hopefully someone here had a better day on the lake.

Oh, yeah, we ran over to the Wngnon Brdge, and there were two boats over by Allen's Point that were obviously not catching much, and a couple folks fishing the poin just down the bridge from them. The north side looked to be too rough for enjoyable fishing, so we didn't stick around.

We left out about 2:00.

You must have talked to my friend Jeff and his wife in a Deep V? That early morning bite ( I call it the "Magic Hour") during the spawn on Oologah is usually from about 5:45 till 6:45 or so. It can be unfetered action nonstop. Once the magic hour is over, one might get the stragler popping about close to the bank. What you need to try after that is working the water in around the 6-8' range. If you can find brush, fine, but normally, just easing along the bank at those depths, (give or take a foot or two) can land some very nice fish. My daughters and I hit that same cove this afternoon around 1:30. No shallow bites at all, worked the deeper water and came out with some nice fish. The girls were not too comfortable with the wind, so we packed it up.
If you hit Talala creek on a regular business, look for me in an aluminum boat with crappie.com stickers up near the bow. I push her around the lake with a 60hp Tiller model Merc. I've no problem with pointing you towards a few spots to test out.

Did you see a pointy nosed blue bass boat w/ a 200 Evinrude working the steep bank just around the corner from the ramp when you left out from the ramp? That would have been us.

We saw you leaving out.

We did fish right behind your friends. We worked that whole brush pile/submerged beaver den with grubs and jigs before we left and didn't find anything. Either we were fishing wrong, or the time of day changed things I guess.

I fished from noon to 8p today. I fished Talala creek and struggled for the first 3 hours. I had zero bites until I found them in 2 places on one stretch of bank. I just kept circling back through those 2 areas and would pick up 1-2 each time through. I ended up with 24 nice fish. More males than females. The fish were not real shallow, most of them were caught in 4-7 fow. The best color was a blk/char beavertail. Hope to get out early in the am, before the wind gets too bad.

I've launched at Vada so many times over the years. I've seen so many boats, and during the spawn, there is an abundance. I don't really notice different boats unless it's one of the regulars. I'll usually give a report to them. There's a about 5 people I'm in contact with for current reports for the area. This time of year, any brush near the bank if about 5' or less can be explosive fishing from 5:30 to 7 a.m. After that, you'll find a few straglers. Once they've left the bank for the morning, try fishing fairly close to the area from 5' to 9' deep. They will be concentrated in brush, but, you'll also score nice just easing along the banks trying different depths catching suspended fish. Try getting there and launching around 5 a.m. You'll absolutely love what I call the "Magic Hour" if you're in the right spot.

I would love to, but that would mean getting up around 2:30, and as much as I hate to admit it, I'm not that mad at them.:o:rolleyes:

Fished from 830 to 130 today and caught 5. The wind was terrible and so was the fishing. I couldn't fish where I caught them yesterday due to the wind. They were in 4-5 fow on blk/char jigs. I ran into Lazinback and he had caught several between 530-7 am on minnows.
