    Crappieguru,
If I would have known that was you I would've slipped over and said hello. I ended up about the same as you. I kept throwing them back until I decided if I was going to keep any I better keep a few of the bigger smaller ones. :o My excuse is, "my wife likes the way the smaller ones fry up".
    Hey, tell me a story!

I'm gonna go out tonight and try and catch some. Are there any brush piles that are reachable from the bank? I looked through the JPEG files on the Corp site and it appears that there are some that are "near" the bank. Also, are they marked in any way, or is it gonna be a poke and hope adventure looking for the piles?

Thanks everyone and Happy Fathers Day to all you dads out there!

Penny I know this is a late response but a lot of the brush piles around spencer creek park are pretty close to the bank. Watch out for them slithery critters though. The flooded willows and brush is pretty attractive to them.

Well, I made it out for a father/daughter fishing trip yesterday morning. I took a buddy of mine and his daughter as well. The lake is getting high now and all of my usual brush piles are getting pretty deep and the dinks are moving in. We still did pretty good though, even after wading through the dinks. We fished from 9:30 to 12:30 and stopped to swim for about an hour. We hit brush piles in 15 fow with minnows and came home with 46 over 10 inches. No real pigs though. The girls had a blast.

Meatdragger your have had some very good fishing trips even with the high water. I hope to fish Oologah early Thursday or Fridy morning. Where would you recommend I launch the Boat and what area of the lake should I start my fishing? Due to the lake about 7 1/2' above normal I don't know where to start.
    Thanks.

I would start with brush piles that are in 14 to 18 foot of water. Since the water is high, I would stay away from areas that have stumps. All those stumps that normally stick out of the water will be under water so avoid those areas. Try the south end of the lake, launch out of Hawthorn or Redbud and fish the piles in those areas. There are tons of piles in that area. The Spencer Creek area would be good as well. If you can find brush piles around 15 foot of water you will find crappie. Don't forget the minnows.

Good luck and let us know how you do!

Great report, meatdragger. Good to see the girls are interested in fishing. I like to see the young people take an interest in the outdoors, they are the fishermen, fisherwomen of the future!!

I agree Rigrunner! You gotta get your kids involved, we're making memories that they won't forget long after I'm gone. I also feel like I'm banking points for when I'm too old to go out by myself, I'm gonna need them to take me!

My daughter loves to fish and hunt. The boys at school all drop their jaws when she takes in pictures of the fish she catches and the deer she shoots.

I'll be beating them off with sticks soon! Oh brother!
