thank's reaper, been wanting to say howdy in person for long time, I think next week I am going to sneak away. I run a bass tracker trx with a 60 merc on the back,, got the ole CDC sticker on the motor, and windshield,, I made a test drive couple weeks ago looks like a pretty nice lake, wife and I drove around the lake but never did get to where I wanted to look... thanks for the info and I'll give you a shout day or two before I head your way,,, he I checked the mileage and It is closer to Oolahah than truman, go figure...
Hopefully the lake rises over the next few days or week. They are getting a lot of rain in Kansas north of the lake.
Fishing was pretty tough yesterday. We fished an area around Blue Creek and managed to catch 12 but only one that I would consider a keeper. Color/bait of choice was black and chartreuse baby shad. Also tried some of the Mr Crappie/ Strike King jokers in the same color. I think the water needs to cool a bit more before the fishing really heats up.
The wife and went out Sunday and tried to catch a few. We stayed in a sheltered spot out of the wind and just enjoyed the day. Caught 12 decent keepers and probably that many throwbacks too. Our boat was sitting in 12ft and we were casting out to 25ft with jigs and drop shotting minnows. Sure was a nice day to be on the water.

Fished Blue Creek area Sunday.
Must have been a Bass Tourney Somewhere cause they Wore out the Water in Blue Creek headed to the Timber.
We Managed 22 Keepers. Dunno How many dinks under 10" but lots.
Water was in decent shape starting to get that green look back and in the Upper 60's when we launched at daylight but warmed to 72 by noon when we loaded. Bight was EXTREMLY light. Been catchin em on smaller tuffie minnows tipped on a Jig but all they wanted Sunday was the Minnow. Had a mixture of Gold and Plain. Cant say they hit one better than the other. Some times they would just come up and put it in their mouth and hold it. you wouldnt know you had a fish till you moved your rod. as the day progressed i could feel em mouth it then hold but VERY light. only caught fish on the rod i was holdin so i guess if you werent there they would just let go . Most of the Fish we caught were in brush piles that had a Shallow side in 13-14 FOW shallow side 9-10 fow and they were mostly on the shallow side. We Usually catch a 14"er or 2 but most of these Fish we kept were in the 11-12 inch size no really good ones
Seems to be a shortage of Small Minnows Right now thus the tuffies as they usually run Smaller.
Reaper I thought the bite was fine the week we had the tournament up there, I caught so many I'm just now getting over my tendonitis in my elbow ;) Huckabee guided up there quiet a bit in July and August and had some of the biggest fish he had all year. But you are right about when the water was high, it was TOUGH! But Oologah and Eufaula has a way of spoiling us when the bite is good! EB
Could not resist this perfect weather so we fished from 10-5:00 today. Caught 31 up to 13.5" with 13 over 10". Most of the throwbacks were about 9" so the dinks are getting bigger. Really picked up around 2:00 and they were going strong when we ran out of minnows at 5:00. We caught all of our good fish in 22-24 fow and they hit from 18-20 feet deep. It actually took us a while to try em that deep but they were there at three different piles from goat island to blue creek. The shallower water just didn't produce today for us. We tried to get em to bite a jig but they certainly much preferred minnows today even though Tacora Mart was out of small ones which I prefer. We saw several boats parked on brush today. Wondering if any were c.c guys and how they did. I did achieve one personal best today, catching 4 crappie on one minnow ( my last shiner of course- dang it)
Jig61. When they just hold that bait in their mouth without any thump or peck we call em hitchhikers. Not sure why but it seemed to fit and it cut down on excessive conversation trying to describe the no tap bite. At our age we only have so much energy and prefer to use it fishing- not explaining the bite. Most of today's deeper fish were hitchhikers, requiring our Jedi powers to sense them.

Lol I Will rember that and use it in the Future. Got To Go back on sunday morning. we Fished Spencer Creek. Water was in the lower 60s and in fair shape. The Air Temp was a little Brisk to start out but warmed up ok. had Frost on my windshield this AM. We fished the bluffs and the Timber behind the bluffs and picked up a few Just barley keepers. Ended up back in the cove in 13-14 FOW fish were tight to the brush. When You thumped one on the Nose he would thump back. ended the day with 13 Keepers over 10" cpl of 13s Jig Tipped With Small Minnow got the Most bites.
